I never thought I would be more stressed out AFTER Institute…
Real life is upon us, and it has thrown itself at me. My principal has decided to take a mini vacay (yes I just said vacay), and I have no idea no what GRADE I’m teaching. I’m either 6th or 7th, but now we’re doing all this content specific stuff at orientation, and I feel a little behind the curve here. I’m either teaching ancient civilizations or American history…that’s quite a difference. Well at least I have a job. My roommate doesn’t know whether she’s teaching middle school science or elementary. How scary.
I really love my apartment, but right now, all I have is a bed. I did make a trip to bed, bath and beyond today (where I spend a RIDICULOUS amount of money), and it doesn’t even seem like I got anything! I am hoping to make other trips to the Container Store and to Ikea this week to get some more storage stuff. Hopefully this week and the next, I will start to see this apartment come together. We have our couch coming in in a week and a half, and my TV should be here within the week. We get cable and real internet (I’m stealing a neighbor’s shitty WiFi) on Thursday. So excited to watch crappy reality TV. Jon and Kate Plus 8 marathons, here I come. Oh and Top Chef. S
The very first thing I have to look forward to schoolwise is a new student orientation (and I guess somewhat of a new TEACHER orientation as well) on the 26th. I need to draft a student/parent “welcome and expectation” letter. I also want to make sure I have a copy of this is Spanish because many of my students’ parents will not be proficient in English. Because I don’t speak Spanish, I have to figure out how to do this…Is there any resource you guys use?
Anyways…Session doesn’t start til 1pm tomorrow, and I’m about to go listen to some Coldplay and just CHILL OUT.

I can SO relate. My roomie and I went to IKEA this morning and sort of stared at stuff like “wow, that would be nice…if I had 200 dollars.” So far we’ve figured out our budget for August allows us to A) hook up internet and B) buy mattresses. That is IT.
Sigh…a full month of bills until paycheck day. It can’t come fast enough.
